There are more man made zeolites now than natural ones, however clinoptilolite
is the most abundant member of the 48 minerals in the natural zeolite group.
Although more clinoptilolite is produced than any other zeolite mineral, most
of the end use applications are not optimal such as construction aggregates,
building stone, soil additives, and animal adsorbents. Only a very small percentage
of the total mined is suitable for ion exchange and sorption value added applications

Clinoptilolite is not the most well known, but is one of the more useful natural zeolites. Clinoptilotlie has a high proportion of pore space in a chemically neutral structure and is resistant to high temperatures and is well suited for applications such as chemical sieves, gas absorption, feed and food additives, as an odour control agent and as a component of water filters for municipal and residential drinking water and aquariums. More recently it has been used to increase the specific surface area for microbial activity important in the degeneration of sewerage.
TecEco use a finely ground Australian clinoptilolite zeolite particularly suited as a pozzolan and silica fume replacement because it is calcium based. The use of clinoptilolite has the additional advantage of removal of toxic cations, organic acids and ammonia. If suitably pre-processed, clinoptilolite can also remove anions.
